Yesterday, our track and field athletes travelled to Caraco Field to compete in the Regional meet. Our Comets represented Calvin Park with great effort and school spirit, and we are very proud of their accomplishments. All the best to the athletes moving on to the District meet.There are still many exciting events and milestones to come before the end of the school year. We are looking forward to the LEAP Showcase performances next week, welcoming students from our four feeder schools on Grade 6 Day, year-end field trips, and many other opportunities for students to learn, connect, and celebrate together. We are grateful for the energy, enthusiasm, and support of our students, staff, and families as we head into these final weeks.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" style="text-align: start;">Graduation</h2>We can't wait to honour our Grade 8s graduates on Tuesday June 23 in the LCVI Gymnasium. The graduation ceremony starts at 4:00 pm; students should arrive for 3:30 pm that day. Graduation tickets are available on School Day. Due to a large graduating class, maximum seating capacity, and fire regulations, families will receive 2 tickets per graduate, with the option to request 1 additional ticket per graduate. All this information can be found on School Day, including the link to a survey to request an extra ticket. (A heads-up that School Day will unfortunately be in Read-Only mode June 6-7. Users will continue to be able to access and view information within the system; however, they will be unable to take actions while maintenance activities are underway.) Families will check in at graduation. We will attempt to accommodate your request for an extra ticket, please understand that we may not be able to accommodate all requests.  <img src="/images/5ee23bf2-32bf-4596-9bd7-246e6d8b3237?fingerprint=ppb20260605220004" alt="Calvin Grad 2026" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" style="text-align: start;">Boat Cruise</h2>Details and sign-up for the boat cruise are available on School Day. Students must arrive to the boat by 7:40 pm. The boat cruises from 8:00 - 10:00 pm. We look forward to a fun evening of celebration.Please contact the Calvin Park office if you have any questions about graduation or the boat cruise.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Comets in Action</h2><h3 class="editor-heading-h3">Track & Field</h3>Our athletes did a great job competing at the Regional track and field meet on June 4 at Invista! Many have qualified for the District Meet on Tuesday, June 9. Keep up the super work, Comets!<h3 class="editor-heading-h3">Canada-Wide Science Fair</h3>Congratulations to Ally Xu and Ryan Varma, who qualified for and competed at the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Edmonton last week. This is an outstanding accomplishment, and we are very proud of their achievements. vertical-align: top; text-align: start; background-color: rgb(242, 243, 245);"><img src="/images/3f739758-daef-43ae-9e0b-b7db833f6970?fingerprint=ppb20260605210008" alt="IMG 5675" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block">Ryan at the Canada-Wide Science Fair - Winner of 3 Awards: Best Innovation, Best AI, and age group Gold.</th></tr></tbody></table>We are proud that 4 out of the 5 students representing Kingston at the National Science Fair were from Calvin/LCVI, and 3 walked away with medals. Impressive to say the least! <h3 class="editor-heading-h3">Elementary Computer Competition</h3>On Thursday, May 28th Calvin Park attended the 6th annual Bayridge Elementary Computer Competition hosted by the Computer Specialist Program. Our students competed in teams of 3 to solve a series of problem solving questions that involved computational thinking, logic and trouble shooting.  We had ten grade 7 teams and nine grade 8 teams. Special congratulations to:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;"> Antonio Soares, Rafay Rahim, and William Kim on their Bronze medal award for Grade 7</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Aidan Tan, James Fecica, and Mohammad Zaid Abdullah on their Gold Medal award for Grade 7</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Yash Agarwal, Ali Kattan, and Zain Haider on their silver medal award for Grade 8</li></ul><table class="editor-table" style="width: 100%; We have students and staff who experience severe physical reactions when exposed to artificially made scents. The most severe reactions stem from colognes, perfumes, and body sprays. Please do not wear scents at Calvin Park/LCVI, do not apply them before you come to school, and do not apply them while at school. Thank you for your help with this.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Our Daily Schedule</h2>At Calvin Park PS, we have three 100 minute blocks of instructional time, in addition to two nutrition breaks and recesses. Attendance and promptness are so important for students' learning. We encourage students to give themselves plenty of time to get ready and get out the door in the morning. Welcome to Calvin Park Public School, the Limestone District School Board’s largest intermediate (Grade 7 and 8) school and home of the Comets! Over the coming months, Limestone staff will be reviewing and updating course outlines, assessment practices, and supporting resources to ensure alignment with the new provincial requirements.The Food Sharing Project UpdateDuring the 2025-2026 school year, The Food Sharing Project supported every LDSB school by providing nutritious food and resources to students each day. On average, more than 14,000 meals and snacks were served each week, over 530,000 throughout the year, with weekly food orders reaching approximately $17,500.We are grateful to the dedicated staff who make these programs possible, and to The Food Sharing Project for continuing to support student well-being across LDSB. This support is increasingly important as many families continue to face food insecurity.
